A Next.js starter for WebMCP

· Dana Kowalski

WebMCP lets a website give an AI agent tools to call, like “get a quote” or “book a visit,” instead of making it read the page and guess. Chrome is testing it now, so I built a small Next.js app to try it with.

New to WebMCP? Start with the roofing post.

See what the agent sees

A WebMCP Tools button in the corner lists every tool on the page. You can run each one yourself, and every call shows up in a live log with what went in and what came back.

Run it

Turn on chrome://flags/#enable-webmcp-testing, restart Chrome, then:

git clone https://github.com/DanaKowalski/webmcp-nextjs-starter
cd webmcp-nextjs-starter
npm install
npm run dev

Open http://localhost:3000.
